Strolling down Main Avenue in the next few days, you might notice a favorite local establishment with the doors closed and a big yellow sign in the window. The Irish Embassy Pub will be closed from Monday, November 25 until Thursday, December 5 for code compliance issues.
“We’re not perfect. We’ve spent the last five and a half years trying to be an integral part of Durango, and we feel like we need to make an apology to the town,” said Irish Embassy owner Michael Graham, on behalf of owner Jerry Hembury and manager Phil Brennan, of the January 1, 2013 violation. “We broke the rules. We’ve embarrassed ourselves and have put the town leadership and community in an uncomfortable position, and for that we apologize.”
The Embassy is taking advantage of the eleven day closure to do some refurbishment and cleaning. “We’ll be reopening Friday, December 6 for lunch and will be ready for the Noel Night crowd. We’d like to thank our loyal customers by offering them an extra 25% bonus points on their loyalty cards for the whole weekend. We appreciate their support and we just want to say thanks for sticking by us during this time”, said Graham.
