The Irish Embassy Pub will be closing its doors at the end of the day September 7, 2020. “After 12 years, we’re really sad to see it come to this, but we’ve been struggling since reopening in May and haven’t been able to get ahead,” said manager Sarah Donaldson. A local group of session musicians have tried to rally with a fundraiser for the Embassy, but unfortunately it hasn’t been enough to keep them going.

“We’ve had a lot of great times here at the Pub, a lot of great memories. We’re hoping that we’ll be able to reopen somewhere else on a different capacity, once things start to become a little more ‘normal’. We’ve kept going as long as we were able, and we feel that it’s time we say goodbye – for now. We want to say a big thank you to everyone who has joined us over the years. We’ve hosted a wedding, a wake, meetings, countless birthday and Christmas parties, shaved heads for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, Guinness Games for Snowdown, and every Sunday (rain or shine) we had our music sessions. We’ve celebrated the Durango Celtic Festival, The Durango Independent Film Festival, handed out medals for the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic, served numerous meals to DYSA; it was all of you that molded the Embassy into the community pub that it became. And for that we’ll be forever grateful.”

The Irish Embassy Pub will be open daily, beginning at 11am, through September 7. A few of the house bands are planning to play this weekend, so be sure to stop by, have a pint, and enjoy some fish and chips (before they’re gone!)

And wherever you go and whatever you do, may the luck of the Irish be there with you.
